Christina (Nena) Leann Edmunds

Christina Edmunds

On February 8, 2009 Nena Edmunds lost her life in a vehicle accident.

Nena was born on Father's Day, June 18, 1989 in Berkeley, CA to Shelli Omo and Tony Edmunds.  She moved to Montana with her parents and older brother Aaron Edmunds, when she was nine months old.  She moved to Laurel in 1992 with her mom, brother, step-dad, Mike Harper, and sister, Tana Harper.  In 1994 her baby sister, Mykel Harper was added to the family. While attending Laurel Middle School, her family expanded to include her mom's fiancé, Brian Albert and new brothers, Cody and Caleb Albert, and her brother from another mother, Stuart Dollarhide. In 1999 her father, Tony, added brother Nick Edmunds to her list of siblings.

Nena graduated from Laurel High School in 2007 where she was Senior Class President and Head Cheerleader. She was very involved at school with cheerleading, choir, sewing, Adopt-a-Grandparent, and the Stand Program. Nena took dance and cheerleading for 11 years and won several competitions in both.

After graduating from LHS she attended MSU in Bozeman where she tried out and made the Bobcat cheerleading squad. During that year, Nena and fiancé, Jesse Jackson, found out there would be a new addition to the family. Nena left Bozeman and returned to Laurel to have her baby. On August 12, 2008, Nena gave birth to their son, Dallas Oakley Jackson.

Nena was a creative, loving, and amazing young woman who positively affected everyone around her. She loved snowboarding, sewing, dancing, reading, playing Guitar Hero, and Singing Star with her brothers and sisters. One of her favorite things to do was travel. She visited Boston, New York, Phoenix, Hawaii, Jamaica, and Australia. She traveled the most to see her dad, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family in California.

Nena is survived by her family mentioned above and also her great-grandma, Orva Hatzell; grandparents, Josephine Edmunds, Molly Omo, Dale and Loretta McDonald, and Jean Harper; Uncles, Roy Omo and David, Joe, Marty, and John Edmunds; Aunts, Katy and Julie Omo, Ann, Mary, Theresa, Maggie, and Joan Edmunds, Rose Bowman and Brandy McDonald; Nephew, Michael Dailey, numerous cousins in California and LeAnn Omo.

Nena was preceded in death by her grandparents; Glenda and Ron Omo and David Edmunds.

Cremation has taken place.  A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, February 13th, at New Life Church. A reception will follow downstairs.  The church is located at 3950 Temple Place, 3 3/4 of a mile south of King Ave. on Shiloh Rd.

Nena will be missed greatly. I so enjoyed having her in class as well as when she would come to the house to visit me or just call on the phone with news. She was truly a delight to be around.

Anything that I can do, please call. I have pictures in my class room I would like you to have when you are ready. Just let me know.

Fondly,

Diane Hooker

I remember your dear little Nena from went I worked at the Gingerbread House Daycare in the Heights when she was just a little peanut. She always had a smile on her face and it got even bigger when she would see big brother Aaron. Oh how she loved her big brother!
