In loving memory of John Leonard Seaman.

Dad was born to Leonard and Johanna Seaman in Bradgate, Iowa, on November 7, 1927.  He left our side on December 22, 2009 to be with his Lord and Savior.

His family moved to the farm near Absarokee in 1944.  Upon his graduation in 1945 he returned to Iowa for the summer than came back to Montana to start working at J.I. Case, then to Vaughn Ragsdale Specialty’s.  During this time he started his own business with his partner Ed Blaesius, which later became Seaman Construction.  While working for Vaughn Ragsdale, Dad met our mother Joan Clark and five months later they wed on August 20, 1949.   During their union, children Nancy, Sally and Lee were born.  Dad and Mom celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in August.

In 1961 the family moved to Edgar, Montana.  And Dad continued to run his business until 2002.  He was a Self-taught heavy equipment operator, surveyor, “Dirt Stiff”, such a perfectionist, and a salt of the earth.  He very much enjoyed the friendship of area farmer and ranchers.

John is survived by his wife Joan of Edgar, children, Nancy (Gary) Brook and Sally (Greg) Huffard of Billings, and Lee (Michelle) Seaman of Piedmont, South Dakota,   10 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.  Preceding him in death were his parents, 2 sisters, 1 brother and 1 grandchild.

We all invite you to come and celebrate his life with us at the Edgar Gym, in Edgar, Montana, Monday December 28, 2009 at 11 am for a memorial and luncheon.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the Edgar Fire Department, P.O. Box 14, Edgar, MT  59026.  Internment will be set at a later date.

A special thanks to the staff of St Vincent’s Hospital.  And a very special thanks to his neighbor and friends Alan and Pam Wetstein.   Goodbye Dad, we will miss you.  Enjoy moving dirt for the Lord.
