Scott Lee Schroeder, 51 of Billings passed away unexpectedly, at his home on December 5, 2009.  Scott was born On July 18, 1958 in Billings, Montana.  He is the son of Gary Schroeder and Mary Fischner Larson.

Scott grew up in Billings until moving to Illinois with his mother and step father.  He graduated from Lake Zurich High School in Zurich, Illinois early to join the United States Army.

He was on active duty for 4 years and then joined the Army National Guard.  Scott was actively involved with the Guard and was deployed to Iraq in 2004 serving his country until a medical situation brought him back to Billings in 2006.  He was medically retired in 2006.  Scott was dedicated to his country and loved his brothers in arms.

Scott was an adventurous soul and loved trying new things. He was a history buff and had vast knowledge of military history.  He enjoyed hunting and exploring the mountains of Montana, even trying mountain climbing in his younger years.  He loved life.

Scott is survived by this mother Mary (Roger) Larson of Bozeman; his father Gary Schroeder of Manhattan, Montana; sister Sharr Schroeder, a son Spencer Schroeder of Minnesota, his wife and best friend Stephanie (Thor) Schroeder in addition so numerous step siblings and extended family.

He was proceeded in death by a brother (Steve), an infant son, and his grandparents.

Vigil Services will be held at 7:00 P.M., Wednesday December 9, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00  A.M., on Thursday, December 10 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church.  Interment with full military honors will follow in the Veterans Section of Mountview Cemetery.

The casket will be open for visitations on Tuesday December 8 form 8a.m.-5 p.m., Wednesday, 8 a.m. until the conclusion of the Vigil Service and at Church prior to the mass.

There are no words we can offer that will alleviate the pain and sorrow you are suffering with the loss of Scott.  Your time together on this earth was way too short. Just know that you are in our thoughts and prayers during this time of mourning.  It is times like this we need to celebrate your life with Scott by remembering all of those positive moments you had together.

It has been a long time since I have seen or talked to you. It was just a month ago when a bunch of us were reminiscing and we were wondering where you were. I just read about your husband and I am so sorry. You are in my thoughts and prayers. You are a very special person.
