Esther Victoria Flanze
Our loving mother, Esther Victoria Flanze, of
Billings, slipped away quietly during her sleep on December 21,
2009. She was 94.
Ester was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 22, 1915. Early in her
life the family moved to Miles City, MT where she grew up.
Esther was married to Walter Flanze on January 1, 1940. They
moved to Portland, Oregon, where her first two children were born.
Right after WW II Esther and family settled for good in Billings,
where three more children were born. Throughout the years she was a
devoted mother and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church
(Missouri Synod), in Billings.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frederick C. and Mary
Schreiber; husband Walter H. Flanze; and son, David J. Flanze.
She is survived by her son, W. Carl (Kathy) Flanze of Park City, MT;
daughters Sandra (Bela) Marton of Allen, TX, Mary (William) Anderson
of Louisville, CO, and Victoria (Gary) Dyrdahl of Bend, OR;
grandchildren Marlane, Cristine, Katherine, Barbara, Kathleen,
Rachel, Alicia; and great-grandchildren Molly, Ryan, Luke, Sarah,
Marin and Nathan.
A
special acknowledgement is given to Tender Nest in Billings for the
loving care provided for the past 2 years.
The casket will be open for visitation from 12-5 p.m. on Sunday at
Michelotti-Sawyers. Funeral services will be held at 1:00
P.M., Monday, December 28, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Burial will follow the reception at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials honoring Ester’s life may be made to
Trinity Lutheran Church, 537 Grand Ave., Billings, MT 59102.
