Margaret L. Eddy

Margaret L. Eddy, 87, born March 13, 1922 in Pocatello, Idaho
to Dessie (Jones) and William Lindau, passed away December 15, 2009
at her home at Mission Ridge in Billings.
Her childhood home was in Southern Idaho near the Snake River Canyon.
She said that it was a wonderful place to explore and that her
sister Jean would join her in various adventures "down in the
canyon." After graduating Valedictorian of
Murtaugh,
Idaho High School she attended Whitworth College
in Spokane where she met
her lifelong love, Richard W. Eddy. They were married on January 10,
1941. In 1943 they moved with their baby daughter Wilma to
Alaska
where both Margaret and Richard worked as Aircraft Communicators.
From Alaska they were transferred to the Panama Canal Zone where another daughter Celia and a
son Richard, Jr. were born. In 1951 there was another transfer to Great Falls, Montana where another son Timothy
was born in 1958. In 1960 the family moved to the Ashuelot Bench,
North of Fort Shaw. After Richard retired from farming they lived in
Great Falls and moved to
Billings
in December of2006.
An ambitious gardener, she spent every summer growing vegetables and
flowers and helping Richard tend the landscaping at the Eddy cabin
on Flathead Lake.
She loved her family, friends, reading, her computer, and her dog
Foxy. Many friends were made while tutoring English as a Second
Language in Great Falls, Montana. In retirement Margaret and
Richard enjoyed travel to the Philippines,
Hong Kong, European, and Latin
American countries. Margaret was
a long time friend of Rocky Mountain College.
She was a trustee on the RMC Board from 1974 to 1983, which was a
long time for an individual to serve. She was a positive and
influential member of the Board, and her dedication and commitment is
noteworthy. It was her service as a lay member for the United
Methodist Church Conference that led to her
involvement with RMC. Because of her service to RMC a Scholarship
will be established in Margaret's honor.
No day will go untouched by memory of her as she is lovingly
survived by her husband Richard W. Eddy of Mission Ridge, Billings,
MT; and her children; Wilma (Jack) Tokarczyk of Yelm, WA, Celia
(Dan) Scheihing of Billings, MT, Timothy (Joyce) Eddy of Portland,
OR; her sister Jean (John) Stephenson of Yelm, WA; daughter-in-law Annie Eddy of Centreville, VA;
ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She is preceded in
death by her son, Navy Lt., Commander Richard W. Eddy Jr. (Annie).
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, December 29, 10:30 AM at
the Lillis Chapel in Mission Ridge,
3840 Rimrock Rd, Billings, MT.
Memorials may be sent to the
Rocky Mountain College Richard and Margaret Eddy Scholarship fund,
c/o Obert Undem, Development Office,

Mountain
College,
